StageLens: using artificial intelligence to score sentence completion tests of ego development

I will describe our application of artificial intelligence (machine learning) technology to the automated scoring of developmental center of gravity sentence completion tests of ego development. The current implementation of the technology is trained on data scored using the STAGES model, a derivative of the Loevinger/Cook-Greuter framework. To date we have achieved auto-scoring accuracy of +/- level with 95% confidence. I will describe the technology, the STAGES model, current and potential applications, and ethical considerations in scaling up developmental scoring. Participant questions, reflections, and ideas on the project will be invited.
